On Writing...
I'll never be free of creation.
Molding the imaginary is more than a love. It's allowed me to build worlds, brick by letter, and live in my wildest dreams.
HELLO WORLD!
(Pronounced May-Luh)
Other than writing novels, I've studied engineering and have a Bachelor's degree in Data Science and Computer Science. I've worked in the space industry and for the National Park Service. Award-winning AI research, awarded by the National Data Science Institute. Avid believer that AI has NO RIGHT to steal and regurgitate forms of human expression such as art and literature. I am a Colorado native, a singer, and an animal enthusiast with a green thumb who isn’t afraid to ask silly questions. Although, I am afraid of the dark. I’m not joking.
I cannot picture myself as anything but a writer.
Some might describe me as a bit of a grandma. I love to knit, bake, and grow many plants. Then again, I believe this is offset by my workouts of Olympic weightlifting (as in the Olympic style of weightlifting). I promise I am nowhere near Olympic-level in any sport.
I am rather clumsy and weird things happen to me on a daily basis. Have ya'll ever been knocked to the ground by a rogue billboard? I have!
Takes a deep breath.
When choosing novels and dreaming up ideas, I have an affinity for:
Modern Fantasy,
Urban Fantasy,
Science Fiction,
Magical Realism,
Thrillers,
and Romantic Suspense.
I love strong female characters who grow and adapt, overcoming adversity and other deeply complicated and dark issues. I also love physics! I fit in as many physics-related topics as I possibly can. - Of course, I do attempt to limit myself (for everyone's sake).
I love the ocean and all of its terrifying creatures. One of my goals in life is to one day scuba dive with great white sharks. Yes, I have the shark tracker app, and yes Mary Lee is my favorite tagged great white, because how could she not be? She pings like every other day! Such a social creature with grotesque features and pointy teeth! What's not to love?
I am Maeyla K. Rush!
